The 12th Neuroscience Conference, that could accomplish broad participation, was held in the Conference Room of the High Complexity Hospital "President Juan Domingo Perón". This year, the training course was focused on Initial care of the adult and paediatric neurocritical patient: Traumatic brain injury (TBI), Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Hydrocephalus and Myelomeningocele, together with Intensive Care Unit.
This scientific conference has been developed for 12 years at this month, which from the beginning, provide approach to professionals and the general community, offering new knowledge to improve health conditions.
As usual, at the opening ceremony, Dr. Javier Gardella, Head of the Department of Neurosciences of the institution, delivered a speech of the work carried out by the entire team throughout the year.
In this sense, Gardella started saying that "taking into account the current national situation we are going through, we continue working, investing in health and training of human resources. Among many other things, I’m extremely grateful to work in a place like this where there are people with commitment and dedication in pursuit of the common good ".
Then he continued, "In the Department of Neuroscience we work with a Hippocratic conception based on the fundamental concept of assistance to our neighbours; the teaching for the formation of the generations that will succeed and the investigation applied to our conditions and specific needs to improve ourselves every day and therefore to improve the medical service".
He reported that, the Department has performed 7543 global consultations from last year to date. "These consultations are also the result of the activity of expansion and coverage indicated by the provincial authorities, the HAC and our Minister of Human Development Dr. José Luis Decima. Regarding the needs to cover rehabilitation centers especially at the Eva Perón where an extension of the neurorehabilitation of our patients is working and the activity of the interior town which corresponds to the Neurorehabilitation Network that depends on the staff of our Department”, he said.
Thus, he was making a detailed report of all the benefits and tasks carried out by the Department under his charge, where it was a remarkably successful year, surpassing and redoubling efforts year to year.
While, the Hospital Administrator of the HAC Dr. Marcelo Prochasko said that "The importance of the event is that we belong to the third level of care, interact with all other levels of the health network: We need all province know principles basic and treatment protocols and this conference which are useful for that, in order to level and affirm the idiosyncrasy to all the problems that are presented every day ".
"Since the inauguration of the HAC in 2005, it has been betting on the training of human resources, both themselves and the entire province, public and private, that is, something that has been established since the beginning of the institution and that In spite of the different crises and moments that we are going through, there is always room for training, because we believe that the human resource is as important as facilities or acquiring the best technology”, he concluded.
