A new organ donation procedure was successfully carried out at the High Complexity Hospital "President Juan Domingo Perón". In that case, a 52-year-old man received a kidney from his wife in order to have a better quality of life.

The successful surgical intervention was carried out by the Kidney Transplant team of the HAC, after the corresponding medical tests, and the meticulous work of a first level medical team, achieving the most important event of their lives.

The base disease of the recipient, who is from Potrillo, was nephroangiosclerosis, a kidney damage caused basically by hypertension. It refers to hardening of the kidney arteries and is the final result of replacing normal renal tissue with a denser one with abundant collagen component.

The surgery of both the donor and the recipient was very satisfactory, the recipient was passed to a room in the morning. While the organ donor also had a very good evolution, the professionals commented.

It should be noted that these procedures are carried out by a multidisciplinary team where urologists, cardiovascular surgeons, nephrologists, instrumentalist, anesthesiologists and nurses, work.

In this context, hypertensive and diabetic patients are reminded to have a consultation with the nephrologist since they are the most common cause of terminal chronic renal failure.

These interventions are the product of health policy, addressed by the Ministry of Human Development and the Government of the province, which allow each procedure can be carried out with all the necessary precautions, having transplant programs, infrastructure and specialized personnel for that purpose.
